Breaking Through 11 x 14 Oil on Canvas
This piece began as a quick study in color and how to handle colorshifts between warms and cool. As I painted it became clear that this was more than a quick study and I eagerly worked to bring out the limey glow of light through leaves and the dark shadows of boughs too dark for the light to break into. I kept this piece on the wall of my studio through the winter and it brought the joyful reminder that spring will always return.
